So, tell me, what’s on the horizon? Are you going to graduate school or straight into the working world? Do you have back up plans? Do you number them or are they ordered alphabetically? Do you have a plan at all? Something you can share with me, right now, cleanly deliver in three to six sentences? Do you have a place? A place with walls and a roof and a monthly charge for rent and electricity and heat, etc.? A place with a driveway maybe, or a nearby parking garage or a reserved spot on the block you can parallel park into? Do you have a man? Are you desirable? Have you worked hard enough, as hard as you worked toward your SATs, toward your MRS.; have you worked to reveal to the males in the world how entirely amazing and life-changing you are? Are you capable of that? Are you either of those things? What is your purpose? Is there a reason God dipped his brush in the dust, turned his strokes to make your shape and breathed into your mouth? Is there a reason on this turning world you haven’t fallen off yet? Why don’t you have a strange disease or loss of faculty, like sight or touch? Are you worth all you’ve been given? Are you and will you ever be meaningful, as in, will I remember you, as in, will I ever be reminded of you, as in, will anyone on the television ever say your name reminding me that you exist in twenty years when this fleeting moment of acquaintance is long behind us?
